Training Philosophy Our training philosophy is based on "periodization". Periodization is moving through cycles from low intensity to high intensity. Research supports this training technique as the best means toward preventing injury, avoiding overtraining, and achieving ones goals safely and effectively. Each phase is a progression toward optimal fitness and sport performance. If you are not an athlete, the third phase in our program may not apply to you or may only last a few weeks. Flexibility & Conditioning: Phase 1Flexibility & Conditioning is a program specifically designed to incorporate low intensity strengthening and flexibility methods for injury prevention. This first phase of your program is essential if you are beginning after one month or more of a sedentary lifestyle, or those who do not pass one or more of the A+ Fitness physical tests. This program consists of many exercises for correcting any physical problem such as muscle spasms, back pain, or any physical limitation. Flexibility & Conditioning is the means to total muscular balance and strength for optimal performance in any setting from gardening to athletics. Flexibility & Conditioning prepares the joints and surrounding muscles to move efficiently through their entire range of motion. As a result, you have decreased the potential of pulled muscles, joint damage or improper biomechanics. Anyone of any age playing tennis, golf, soccer, football, etc. and competing at any level needs this prior to more advanced training methods. One who takes the time to balance the body from head to toe, front to back, and side to side will not only prevent injury, but will perform better in any activity. Experience the improvement in your shoulders, spine, hips, knees, and ankles. Your game, performance in the gym, and any other activity you find yourself participating in will dramatically improve. Phase 1 will include various tools of the trade such as a balance ball, rubber resistance, medicine ball and other alternative cross training exercises all designed to prepare you for Phase 2. Exercise-Nutrition: Phase 2Exercise-Nutrition is a complete fitness program involving strengthening, aerobics, flexibility, and nutrition application toward goals such as weight loss, body shaping or bodybuilding. By combining proper exercise and nutrition techniques, you will experience permanent weight control and muscle tone due to a very efficient metabolism. An efficient metabolism simply comes from consistent weight training, aerobic training and proper nutrition. Your A+ Personal Trainers will guide you step by step toward your goals and motivate each workout to its greatest potential. This program can also be designed to have you independent and equipped to make fitness a lifestyle. You will learn about periodization, which is a technique of training that involves three cycles of exercise planning to allow your body to get the best results safely and efficiently. Each workout is thoughtfully planned by your A+ Trainer, and includes exercise and nutrition worksheets to maximize results. You will learn about nutritional supplementation and other techniques for optimal performance. Experience this highly educational, scientifically sound program that will get you in the best fitness condition possible and prepare you for Phase 3. Sports Specificity: Phase 3Sports specificity is strength and conditioning preparation for whatever activity in which you participate. An example would be someone who want to compete well in an upcoming tennis tournament, or one who desires to improve their speed and agility for competitive soccer. A+ has a variety of high quality trainers to match you with any sport such as golf, tennis, softball, running, or whatever activity you desire. Sports Specificity is designed to have the trainer not only compete against you if you desire, but to analyze your biomechanics (sport related movements…), and raise your fitness level for competition by providing strength and conditioning exercises which are very sports specific. If you are not a competitor, this program will give you an opportunity to experience the great outdoors such as a beach walk-run (Ask about our "Outdoor Fun Fitness" program). You will raise your fitness level significantly while you have fun getting in shape. As an athlete or non-athlete, you will learn about sports nutrition, plyometrics, agility, speed training, and specific exercises designed to make you an injury free athlete. |
